Motivation and Triggers: Help Yourself Write One Million Words

I wrote a guest post about motivation and the power of habits for Colin Barnes’ own One Million Words in a Year Challenge blog.

As I continue to dig deeper and invest more into my writing practice, I have become increasingly fascinated with the concepts of goal setting and achievement; mindsets and habits.

Human behavior, as unpredictable and irrational as it can be, has a few fundamental truths. And understanding these truths and knowing how to harness them means that we can make them work to our benefit in accomplishing all kinds of goals – including writing one million words in one year. In my research, I have found a handful of critical concepts that come up time and again in almost anything I read – things that greatly influence our eventual success and are mentioned more than most anything else.
